The Pettigrew Camp 1401 held its monthly meeting at the Lenoir Library. The meeting was started by presenting past Camp Commander, Greg Cannon, with a Certificate of Appreication, a Camp 1401 "Atta Boy" Coupon, and a framed print of the picture "Covered in Glory" for his years spent as Camp Commander. Greg's service to the camp has been invaluable and deeply appreicated. The Camp Business and Activities Report got underway with the distribution of the "Raising the Dough" fundraiser cards with Dominos Pizza. This is a unique fundrasier the camp has undertaken to generate funds to support the camp's ongoing education and public promotion of Southern Heritage. Any one interested in obtaining a "Raising the Dough" card can contact the camp through email. Other points of business included the announcement that the camp will have a booth at the up coming Stoneman's Raid in Lenoir on April 25th. Plans for a Memoiral Day event were discussed and will be revisited in the April meeting. Flyers for the upcoming Civil War Round Table Discussion were pasted out and locations were agreed upon by the members. A program was provided by multple members of their Confederate ancestor. Each pariticpating member brought photos, Civil War records, Pension Applications, and provided other information about their ancestor. The meeting was closed in prayer by Camp Commander Chad Marley.
THE MARCH MONTHLY MEETING WILL BE HELD AT THE CALDWELL COUNTY HERTIAGE MUSEUM AT 7PM!! Camp 1401 will be co sponsoring a Civil War Round Table Discussion with Caldwell County Heritage Museum. The topic of discussion will be Caldwell County & North Carolina's role during the Civil War. Refreshements will be available. No fee or obligation to attend this event is free. Come hear and see Civil War author and historian Michael Hardy. If you are interested in the Civil War or the part Caldwell County and The Old North State played in it, please make plans to attend.
